Executive Director Position Available - Down Syndrome Network of Northern Nevada

The Down Syndrome Network of Northern Nevada (DSNNN) announces a search for an Executive Director.  The DSNNN was established in 2005 with a goal of promoting inclusion in our community and providing a network of support for families who have welcomed a child with Down syndrome. Through the First Call Program, support groups and family gatherings, the DSNNN endeavors to support families from the time they receive a diagnosis of Down syndrome through their life-long journey.  More recently, the DSNNN has begun outreach to the medical community to establish relationships, impress the importance of delivering a Down syndrome diagnosis in a sensitive manner, and encouraging family referrals to DSNNN.  The DSNNN sponsors the Annual Buddy Walk, which has grown from 50 participants in 2005 to 800 participants in 2011.  The DSNNN operated with only a board of directors for the first five years. Since 2010, as part of an AmeriCorps*VISTA grant, the DSNNN has had a full time VISTA member working on program development and has grown in members/activities/database/funds.  The DSNNN is ready to take the next step in growth and hire a part-time executive director to lead the organization to the next step.
