    The Virginia Wine Country Half Marathon is not just a running race, it’s a destination lifestyle experience. Destination Races produces the Wine Country Half Marathon series in renowned wine regions across North America. Loudoun County plays host to this popular event located in and around historic Leesburg, VA, one hour west of Washington DC. This is the only event in the series held in the eastern US.

    The race starts and finishes at bucolic Doukenie Winery, the perfect venue for hosting the post-race Wine & Music Festival, Presented by Loudoun Wineries Association. This scenic, tree-laden course runs north of the winery on historic byways, passing vineyards, farms, ranches and estates along the way. Come experience the race of a lifetime as we welcome you to Virginia and DC’s Wine Country!

    About your presenter:

    David A. Mersky is the Founder and Managing Director of Mersky, Jaffe & Associates, a firm specializing in financial and human resource development solutions for nonprofits worldwide. Founded in 1992, Mersky, Jaffe & Associates has served cultural organizations, educational institutions, medical and health related enterprises, advocacy and social service organizations, and Jewish communal enterprises on a local, regional, national and international basis.  

    Now a successful consultant to nonprofits and family-controlled enterprises, David is also a faculty member in the Graduate School at Brandeis University where he is director of fundraising management at The Hornstein Program in Jewish Professional Leadership.  Additionally, he served as Director of Education and Professional Development of the Institute for Jewish Philanthropy and Leadership.  Formerly an adjunct professor in the Simmons College Graduate Program in Communications Management, where he taught strategic marketing planning, Mersky has been a member of the faculty of the Institute for Charitable Giving and a contributing writer to a number of publications, notably the New England Nonprofit Quarterly where he wrote a regular column on major gifts as “The Artful Solicitor.” 

    Mersky is the lead author of two books, Successful Synagogue Fundraising Today: Overcoming the Fear of Asking for Money, and How You can Engage New Board Members: Strengthening Your Nonprofit Organization.

    During his forty-five-year career, he has trained thousands of professionals and volunteers who have raised hundreds of millions of dollars.  In private business, he has counseled management on issues ranging from strategic marketing planning to sales force training and development.  He advises families on the creative use of philanthropy for business and estate planning as well as transmitting enduring values from one generation to the next.

    Learn about how to use the Facebook Frame feature to engage your friends, raise awareness and gain more followers. We will go through the design and approval processes and then you will make a sample one! We will use the online design tool, Canva to create the graphics. 

    About your presenter:

    Catie Aznoe currently works with the Down Syndrome Connection of the Bay Area on their online and social media marketing. She has a B.A. from the University of California, Davis and ten years of experience working in the nonprofit sector with both local and national organizations. She has had roles in administration and programs but has primarily focused on marketing and development for the last seven years.

    Napa-to-Sonoma is the flagship event in the Wine Country Half Marathon Series. This popular race features a fast and scenic course starting at Cuvaison Carneros Winery and finishing in historic Sonoma Plaza in front of City Hall. The world-renowned Napa and Sonoma Valleys serve as the host of this event, offering the finest in wine country ambience and hospitality. Other activities are scheduled around the race, so bring family and friends and plan to stay and play! You’ll also meet new friends and running colleagues at this iconic event which draws from all fifty states and many foreign countries. This is not your typical running race, this is a lifestyle experience!

    The 40th running of The San Francisco Marathon (Full Marathon, 1st Half Marathon, 2nd Half Marathon, 5K and Ultramarathon) will fill San Francisco’s streets with over 27,000 runners on July 23rd, 2017. Runners will enjoy waterfront miles along the Embarcadero, Fisherman’s Wharf, and Crissy Field; feel their heart pound as they race across the Golden Gate Bridge; speed past landmarks like Coit Tower, Golden Gate Park, and AT&T Park; and pound the pavement through San Francisco’s liveliest neighborhoods like Haight-Ashbury and The Mission.
