2018 Conference Scholarships

Down Syndrome Affiliates in Action is excited to offer registration scholarships to small organizations in order for them to attend our annual leadership conference.  These scholarships are funded by donations from DSAIA affiliate members! The scholarships will be awarded by the DSAIA Conference Committee on a limited basis and are based on financial need along with other considerations.  Applicants must meet the scholarship criteria listed below and complete the Scholarship Application.

Scholarship applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria: 

  • Applicant must not have received a scholarship for the 2016 or 2017 DSAIA Leadership Conference;
  • Applicant must be a staff or board member from a Down syndrome organization with 5 or fewer employees, (not an industry partner or consultant member);
  • Only one applicant is allowed from each individual organization (more than one application can result in exclusion from consideration); and
  • Applicant’s organization must have a 2017 budget of $50,000 or less or show extenuating circumstances.

Terms

    Applicant must agree to the following:
    • DSAIA is responsible for covering meeting registration fees;
    • DSAIA is responsible for covering hotel room rates, taxes and fees for up to three nights;
    • Applicant is responsible for incidental costs associated with hotel past the room rate/taxes/fees, all transportation outside of conference-included events, food (except for meals included in conference registration), and incidentals;
    • DSAIA has secured a reduced room rate for attendees of $139 per night plus taxes within DSAIA's room block (information will follow - specific hotels are not guaranteed, placement is assigned by DSAIA where a scholarship rate has been provided) if recipient wishes to extend their stay;
    • Scholarship recipients are required to attend a minimum of six breakout sessions over the course of the conference as well as Leaders’ Circle event on Friday.;
    • Scholarship recipients who are not a member of DSAIA must participate in an on-site orientation presentation. [Awardees will receive a more comprehensive explanation of this meeting prior to arriving onsite.]
    • If not able to attend for any reason, applicant is responsible for no-show fee of $450 to cover associated costs;
    • There are a limited number of scholarships; applicants who have never before received a scholarship will be given priority over those who have previously received scholarships;
    • If applicant received a 2016 or 2017 scholarship, he/she is not eligible to receive a scholarship in 2018.
    • Award is limited to only one recipient per organization.

      Enter your data into the Scholarship Application Form and submit.  Please remit application and any collaborative information by November 15, 2016 as scholarships are awarded prior to December 1, 2016 Early Bird deadline.  All applicant information will be kept confidential.  Other scholarships may be awarded after December 1, 2016 if funding allows.


      It's in our kids best interest to build a [Down syndrome] organization for the entire down syndrome community. I know my daughter but I don't know what the whole community needs without learning. And (DSAIA) is where I learn.
