Three key areas: oxygenation, growth and immunity

How recent findings show multiple effects of increased hypoxia (low oxygen), stunted growth, and dysregulation of the immune system in Down syndrome. New clinical trials based on these findings that are testing medicines to improve health outcomes in Down syndrome, with promising initial results. How based on these important findings, promising new treatments are being tested to improve health outcomes for those with Down syndrome.
